International Competition: "SMART CITY 2030: Sustainable Urban Development Management in BRICS Countries"

Objective:
The competition aims to engage students and young researchers in developing innovative urban development projects for cities in BRICS countries by 2030. The projects should creatively address the challenges and opportunities in urban planning during a time of global uncertainty.

Key Goals:

1. Support student and young researcher initiatives in urban development using technology.

2. Encourage meaningful, socially impactful activities in city planning and development.

3. Enhance project competencies of participants.

Categories:

1. Smart and Creative City Development: Education system improvement, labor market transformation, city branding, and tourism.

2. Safe and Comfortable Urban Environment: Clean and safe city initiatives, environmental sustainability.

3. Smart City Technologies and Services: Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence, electronic government, and open data.

4. Energy and Transportation Infrastructure: Modernization of energy and transport systems, water supply optimization.

Eligibility:

• Open to students, graduate students, PhD candidates, and professionals under 35 years of age.

• Teams of up to 5 participants.

• Submission deadline: October 20, 2024.

• Final competition and presentations: October 30, 2024.

• Hybrid format for the final round.

Submission Guidelines:

• Project scope: up to 10 years of planning.

• Focus on specific cities in BRICS countries.

• Participants must submit a research project addressing urban development problems, with stakeholder analysis, resource management, and solutions for global uncertainty.

Awards: Winners and outstanding participants will receive certificates, prizes, and recognition at the International Municipal Forum BRICS+ in November 2024.
